Story
Costume Alchemy began in Calgary in 2019, founded by costumers Kim Lennox and Gina Bennett with a shared passion for the creative and technical side of film and theatre.
Since then, Costume Alchemy has grown and evolved into a creative business focused on film, craftsmanship, and hands-on learning. Today, the company is run by Kim, drawing on more than a decade of experience working in film and television costume departments.
Costume Alchemy provides dyeing, distressing, sewing, construction, and specialty fabrication services for costume, props, and set decoration teams, helping bring the details of a production to life.
Kim also loves sharing the techniques and skills developed through years of working in the industry through hands-on workshops. From water marbling and cyanotype to UV resin and other creative techniques, the workshops are designed to be fun, approachable, and a little bit different.
Costume Alchemy also offers a growing selection of products and supplies for the film and creative industries, bringing specialized materials and techniques to artists, makers, and production teams across Canada.

Kim Lennox
Kim Lennox is a highly experienced breakdown artist in the film and theatre industry, boasting a career that began in 2011. Having graduated from Mount Royal College in 2009 with a diploma in Technical Theatre, Kim's thirst for knowledge led her to London, England, where she delved into technical effects for performance at the esteemed University of Arts London.
Since completing her studies in 2011, Kim has been an integral part of the costume and props departments in Calgary, Alberta, primarily focusing on breakdown work for various blockbuster movies such as "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," "Interstellar," "The Revenant," and acclaimed television series like "Fargo," "Hell on Wheels," and "Last of Us."
